By understanding the 6 steps this can benefit my future ambition for when I am in a situation where I am communicating to a service user one to one if any mistakes are made there is always time to reflect and improve on the way it has been interpreted. From this if you do not improve on your communication it can mean service users start to feel frustrated as they will feel they are not being listened to and only spoken at. Therefore this could lead a diminished life chance as they will not want to go and receive the care as they are not being understood. Although I felt confident with the theory when me and four of my peers undertook an activity where two of us spoke about a random subject the other two recorded. This made me realise that different locations can be a barrier of communication because of different words people use for different things for example I said ‘shut up’ I was not saying shut up to make someone be quiet, it is a phrase I use for when I am shocked. The girl I was speaking to didn’t interpret it the way I said it to her because it is not something she would normally say, therefore I reflected on this and have realised for the future I need to improve on this as there will be service users from different locations which means I will need to adapt to their way of
