The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT)is organized under the Victoria Civil And Administrative Tribunal Act 1998 and it started functioning on the date of 1st July 1998.VCAT has 15 boards and tribunals to offer and conducts hearings in some areas in Victoria specifically in suburban and regional.Its location was in 55 King street,Melbourne.VCAT vision is to render service to Victorians people in a fair,low cost and efficient way to help resolved disputes.Providing a low cost,accessible,efficient and independent tribunal who deliver a high quality resolution is the purpose of VCAT.Through the years,It has progress to take in new jurisdictions and functions under various acts,rules …show more content…
When I entered the hearing room,I observed the large room was maintained and organised.The chairs arranged properly with the personnel to seat.The level of chairs or the position of the personnel chairs was higher with the level where we seat as the audience or observer.When the tribunal member arrives we all stand up to give respect while waiting his signal to sit down.There are four personnels in the hearing room composed of one judge,one court reporter,one tenant and one representative.The Judge who seated in front center of the room while the one representative seated at the left side and one tenant the applicant who brought this case at the tribunal is seated at the right side.Before the hearing starts,both applicants and respondents will take an oath by putting their hand on the bible while saying the oath.(HYPERLINK http://www.vcat.vic.gov.au/about- vcat
