REM sleep at the age of 6 months can amount to 30% of their sleep which is important for physical and mental development. Some babies may fall asleep fairly quickly while others figet and mutter for 20 minutes before falling asleep. Babies between the ages of 3 to 6 months may fall into a pattern of falling a sleep twice during the day for up to two hours as Thomas has a four hour nap during the afternoon which is normal.
