Dr. W. Edwards Deming was a world-renowned expert on teaching that higher quality leads to higher productivity and lower costs. Dr. Deming was a trained statistician and an expert on improving the quality of war materials during WWII. He continued this expertise in quality and resource management after war ended, and was invited by the Japanese industrial leaders and engineers to Japan (Institute, 2005). The goal of the Japanese business leaders was to change the perception the world had of their products as being cheap and inferior. Total Quality Management is the philosophy of the management that involves all the employees of the organisation for improving the quality of the productivity, process, and services.It is a continuous process for the organisation and it is implemented equally in all the parts of the organisation. The motto of the Total quality Management philosophy is that “do the right things right the first time, every time”. Thus the TQM is the art of managing the whole to achieve the excellence.
