How to Analyze the Responses
The WAIS-IV consists of 15 subtests used to evaluate four areas of intelligence (Climie & Rostad, 2011). According to Maccow (2011), the mapping of the 15 subtests is as follows: Verbal comprehension scale consists of similarities, vocabulary, information, and comprehension subtests. Z’s results, she displays average intelligence from the WAIS-IV. From an intelligence point only, Ms. Z should be able to return to school to finish her degree. However, Ms. Z MMPI-2 indicates that she may have some mental health issues that should be addressed prior to returning to school.
Ms. Z’s results show high indication for Hypochondriasis (Hs), depression (D), hysteria (Hy), psychoasthenia (Pt), and schizophrenia (Sc). Ms. Z’s result show moderate indication for psychopathic deviate (Pd) and social introversion (Si) and low indication for masculinity-femininity (Mf). Ms. Z’s paranoia (Pa) and hypomania (Ma) were within normal limits.
Ms. Z’s content scores show high indication for include: Anxiety (ANX), Depression (DEP), Health Concerns (HEA), Low Self Esteem (LSE), Social Discomfort (SOD), Work Interference (WRK), and Negative Treatment Indicators (TRT). The remaining content scales were below a T score of 64, therefore should not be evaluated.
As Ms. Z has been receiving mental health services for her depression and mood swings, with little relief, additional clinical diagnosis should be explored. This assessment suggests that Ms. Z may have Schizophrenia. Ms. Z should seek additional medical evaluation to determine if she does have
