Being the world hegemon, our country has often assisted countries such as third world countries, those countries who had dealt with natural disasters, and assisting our allies who are under NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization). However, when our country is under attack by terrorists our government is not afraid to fight back because the county’s safety is on the line. In the turn of the 21st century, the United States was under attack by an Islamic terrorist group by the name of al- Qaeda on September 11, 2001. This tragic event later became known as 9/11 and had affected many Americans; including the U.S government and international community (Shah, Reaction to the September 11, 2001 Event). This attack was sudden because no preparations were made to prevent this catastrophic event from the public even though the CIA had informed former President Bush weeks earlier. Had Bush acted earlier, many lives that were lost that gruesome day could have been saved. Furthermore, this attack was the worst terrorist attacks The United States had faced and it was seen as inexcusable not to take action against those who threatened both the national and international community
