My talk is divided into 3 parts. I'll begin by giving you an overview of the use of animals for human entertainment. Then I will talk about the life of animals in zoos and circuses. And finally, I'll propose some solution for the problem. I will be glad to answer any questions that you may have at the end.
Now, let’s start with a fact that animal have been used for entertainment purposes in both the past and present. Circuses, zoos, aquariums, horse racing, bullfighting… are all examples of how people take advantage of animals simply for pleasure. We take part, considering them …show more content…
But, those animals also suffer some terrible things.
First, in circuses punishment is the standard method of training.
Circuses attract the public, especially children, for being colourful, fun and original. Sadly, the training of circus animals is a dark and disturbing world which is hidden from the public eye. Many investigators have been able to film secret of the horrific ways in which trainers force their animals to learn the tricks they perform on stage, which included electrical shocks and food deprivation. Bleeding, bruising, and even broken bones have been witnessed by investigators. It’s also the main reason why animal circuses were banned in the UK.
How about animals in zoo?
Zoos claim that they can preserve species whose habitat has been destroyed or wiped out for other reasons. I totally agree with this idea as zoo can preserve endanger spiecis from extinct. But, I don’t think zoo is the really place for educational. We think that we can study animals in captivity, but the truth is that we can’t. Keeping animals in small enclosures doesn’t allow them to display natural behaviors. All people can learn from zoos, is where the animals can be found and what they …show more content…
They are caged for life and deprived of the opportunity to develop and fulfill the full range of their interests and needs. They lose control over their lives and the environment they live in. Although the zoo exhibits appear similar to natural environments, they will never provide a real view into what it is like to be an animal living in the wild.
Besides its drawback, zoo and circus also have advantages and can’t be closed immediately. However, they abuse animals, so we need an alternative to give the same benefits without using an industry that harms animals. It is necessary that we save the animals and treat them with better care, while still being able to enjoy them just in their natural habitats.
I’ve read many researches and they all agree that sanctuaries and safaris are a great way to solve the problem. It enables us to enjoy animals without having to capture them and put them in unfamiliar places. Animals will live in healthier conditions because they are not being treated differently than they would be in the wild; no physical or mental harm from humans will be brought upon these
