They did not want to give up for nothing, persistent, unleashing kamikaze attacks. Kamikaze is when the aircraft is loaded with explosives and make a deliberate suicidal crash on an enemy target. The United States needed to do something to end this warfare fast. President Truman composed a plan to use, robust machinery against Japan. Truman's procedure of making the atomic bombs, Manhattan Project, went into operation. The first bomb on Hiroshima was dropped, leaving people in fright, but Japan was not convinced to surrender just yet. They kept on attacking the U.S. When the United States let go of the second bomb, Japan quickly realized that the U.S. had more power over them, and raised the white flag. The Manhattan Project was what made it possible to end the feud rapidly. Without this plan, the United States would have had to invade Japan. This method would have taken longer to accomplish, and could have lost more American soldiers' lives(Jennings). Doing the way they did, dropping the atomic bombs, saved thousands of American lives. This also caused a maintained peace with other countries around the world(Dietrich). There were “more peace talks and negotiating,” rather than fighting(Jennings). Making the atomic bombs, meant that the U.S. was the first to experiment with it: therefore it gave the United States the superior strength. With this development of power, nations were encouraged to talk about peace …show more content…
People developed "atomic bomb disease." This was caused by the heat rays, blasts, and radiation. The atomic bomb disease has various stages, all of which are very excruciating(Yamazaki). Examples of stages are: acute stages, atomic bomb trauma, A-bomb radiation illness, radiation blood injury, blood injuries, and secondary radiation illness. The acute stages are primary and secondary thermal burns. Primary injuries are in other words blast injuries, and secondary injuries, are sustained from flying debris. A-bomb radiation illness is caused by radiation being penetrated deep into the human body, cells, which can cause cells to die, cell division abnormalities of molecules and membranes. The radiation to blood injuries deal with the damage to the bone marrow. Other diseases were: cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, renal, endocrinological, digestive, and malignancies(Health). Victims of burns experienced Keloids when healing. Keloids are extra scar tissue where an injury has healed. The different types of cancers that were exposed to people were: thyroid, breast, lung, and leukemia. Many patients died from their cancer being too strong to overcome, or because of the lack of space in hospitals, which they were not able to be treated in time. These poor
