Technology in the classroom does not advance student learning, because technological devices increase the amount of distractions, provide many more ways of inappropriate searching, enable people to be lazier, and do not enhance the methods of teaching. This is shown in many different ways.

Yes, many people believe that students should be trusted that they will not research inappropriate sites. There is only one problem with that, the world is not a perfect place and there are many immature kids in it. In 2012, William J. Oehlkers and Cindy DiDonato comment on this topic stating, “Technology does not substitute for labor, and efforts to improve the management and deployment of human resources have generally not succeeded.” This is extremely true. Many people do this though. They think just because they can use technology they do not have to work as hard to get the same product. This is the kind of thinking that hurts people even once they are out of schooling. In 2014, 12 Advantages and Disadvantages of Technology in Education states, “Computers make it so easy to find answers that students barely have to look for them. This may result in them having poor study habits and developing a lazy attitude toward their education.” Not only does technology give them bad study habits it can also lead them into invalid sources or false facts. This then runs them into the problem of getting in trouble for plagiarism. Lets not forget how much easier it is made for students to cheat with the internet at such easy access.
