But, for a teen with autism, this can be especially difficult, creating numerous internal conflicts. Of course Christopher’s tendency to completely shut down when faced with a confusing problem isn’t making anything easier, but it is something that he has to understand and tackle. Both Christopher’s father and society can be threatening at times, and often do the opposite of what Christopher would’ve been comfortable with at the time, but this is of course, the only way he will grow. Sure, sticky situations create two main internal conflicts for Christopher, but it is the nature of this story that Christopher overcome these obstacles, and become a confident and independent adult.
