1. Explain the significance of the book’s title. Authors rarely choose a title randomly. The tile may be symbolic or it may be representative of some specific incident or character in the book which highlights the books theme. In any case, consider carefully the significance of the title and explain your thinking.
In the novel Fitzgerald uses the title Great Gatsby to explain to emotions of Nick Carraways who in the novel is the narrator and also is the only perspective we the readers see. Select at least five quotes from the book that you can relate to. How do you feel connected to theses quotes? Select passages that you feel are especially noteworthy, memorable, or interesting. For each, explain also how the quote contributes to the work as a whole (i.e. why do you think the author decides to include this passage in the novel?). It was not only developed my view of Nick maturing but it also change how I felt about his point of view , it made me feel that everything he was feeling could change the way the novel was being presented and for a while it did. I started to feel distance with other characters like Jay and Daisy and closer with Nick. Although, I don’t know if it was a good change but I was glad when he was back to being the narrator.
3. “I hate careless people. That’s why I like you” The quote gives insight on what made our narrator Nick such an interesting point of view to read in because unlike the other characters in the novel he doesn’t have an ulterior motive. This was so memorable because later in the novel Nick reuses the quote when describing Daisy and Tom. I felt as if I learned what the author wanted me to know because he used the phase twice but in different circumstances one when Nick wasn’t as mature and then when he was
