The water into the baths of Caracalla came from aqueduct system. The Romans excelled at building aqueducts because they achieved high levels of technology and science at that time. They borrowed and absorbed the culture of the Mediterranean basin; also, the environment of the political helped Rome’s innovation. The ordinary people in Rome can afford to go to the bath so that public baths were popular in Rome.
