The First Continental Congress took place in Carpenters Hall September 5th to October 26th 1774 in Philadelphia. The founders of this organization consisted of 56 delegates from 12 of the colonies. The one colony that did not send a delegate was Georgia because they needed the British to fend off the attackers at Restive creek. The delegates then talked about the problems they had with the British. For example, the taxes,the violation of rights to the citizens,and the harsh laws passed by Parliament. And to get rid of these the Continental Congress decided to write down a document call the Olive Branch Petition which was a way to attempt to avoid an all out war. The continental army was formed after the Revolutionary war had begun. It was used as a fighting force to oppose British rule. Now during the creation of the Continental army, John Adams of the Continental Congress recommended George Washington as supreme commander of the army. The following day Washington accepted. He had to take this ragtag army and make it a strong fighting force. He started training them until they were ready to fight the British(LOC.gov). When they were ready Washington led them into many battles. They won most of the battles, but their was still a long ways to
