When I was in 9th grade, I stumbled upon a website called Coursera, which offers online college classes to gain knowledge about a variety of topics. The course structures and content made me believe that I had hit the jackpot! Why bother going to college if the classes were online for free? One of my favorite extracurricular activities that I have been in throughout high school was Speech and Debate. Our organization would attend Model Congress competitions held by Princeton University and University of Pennsylvania and debate in a congressional-like setting. I enjoyed meeting people from across the country (some of whom I am still friends with despite being hundreds of miles apart), as well as debating about bills and ideas that could improve our society. If I could have the opportunity to be in the position that dozens before me have been in, it would be a dream come true. Helping to run the Model UN would be an amazing experience, and I would be able to learn about the countless number of global events that occur each day.
