If you had lived in the Middle Ages, your breakfast would probably consist of a hard, coarse, black bread; cheese; an onion; and ale. A lot of ale. The average serf drank approximately fifteen liters of ale a day. Fortunately, the ale had a low alcohol content, so the serfs would not get drunk. At noon time, the serfs would take a break for lunch. Lunch normally consisted of a stew made from vegetables such as cabbage and a beef or lamb bone. When the day was done, the serfs would come inside to their cruck houses to devour their dinners, which was normally leftover stew.
