Athletes do get paid way more than doctors, and even the president in a year, but they need it. They have short careers and even shorter if they get an injury and are unable to play anymore. If they do get an injury, they need to pay off the medical bill (and it’s not cheap). Because athletes have short careers, they need to have enough money to support them for the rest of their lives.
