The most effective way to do this is by providing activities which suits their needs and their interests. However, if the child has additional needs the practitioner will need to produce an individual play plan as it fits around the child’s individuals needs and it helps the child to stick to a routine. This will benefit the child and the parent as the child will have a routine and if the routine changed then the child may miss-behave. Having an individual plan will make sure that the provision is inclusive as it will fit around the child’s individual needs and it is putting the child first. (2017). When considering the environment for play it is important that practitioners consider the child’s welfare and safety. The practitioners can do this by doing risk assessments before the children come into the setting. Also, by checking if the equipment is working for them to play with. For example, if the children wants the bike out then it is important that the practitioners make sure they are working. If the environment was indoor the practitioners should make sure the toys are working and not broken. If there are broken then it is important that the practitioners chuck them out as the children can’t hurt themselves and others. In my setting, to make sure we consider the welfare and safety of the children we do regular risk assessments to make the child can’t hurt themselves.
