Do you think that students should have to wake up before the sun even comes up and have to come to school? Starting school later in the day would help with many different factors. Schools expect a lot out of students and having to wake up at the crack of dawn, get to school on time, and get good grades while being tired can be very challenging for many. School should start later in the morning because students will get better grades, it decreases the amount of absences and tardies, and it will be healthier lifestyle for the kids to start later in the day.

They need about 9.25 hours of sleep.The average student will not go to bed until 10:45 and most kids will have to get up between 5:30 and 6:00a.m (Wahlstrom). That only leaves the child with 7 hours and 15 minutes to 7 hours and 45 minutes to sleep, which is not a healthy lifestyle (Wahlstrom). In the body the hormone melatonin is produced by the body at night when sleeping, If someone is not getting enough sleep the melatonin will not be produced, and it will be harder for the student to fall asleep every night.
