No One Can Have It All
Having ‘it all’ isn’t possible, is it? The luxurious cars, a beautiful home, a great paying job, and a loving family; it’s all possible, although having ‘it all’ can come with a high price of sacrifice. The struggles men and women face when they have to choose between having a successful career or being involved in their families has created more than just an average conversation on this topic. Anne Marie Slaughter, the author of “Why Women Still Can’t Have It All” surprised many with this touchy subject, numerous felt that this article presented that females are too emotional to maintain high power employment. Yet some believe it presents how inequality in the workforce is still present even today, and stereotypes affect both women and men. Without sacrifice, nothing comes easy in life, although women possess the pressures of being a hardworking employee and mother at the same time, men however, share the like pressures of work versus home just to a lesser degree than women.
Ann Marie Slaughter is a successful role model holding multiple leadership positions with higher power. The pressure of the family provider is more significant than not being there at family functions, because of women always being there men might not feel the emotional attachment as strongly. Society creates an assumption that women are too emotional to work in a higher position. Women and men’s brains work differently, the response under stress and situations in one’s home life will be vary depicting genders. The world needs to allow women who are emotional, more than males, to hold a higher power
