William Shakespeare is popularly known as the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He changed European theatre by expanding what could be cultivated through addition in plot, characterization and genre. Shakespeare’s work had an impact on famous writers like, Charles Dickens, Herman Melville and Maya Angelou, and continues to influence new authors today. Shakespeare is widely known in the history of the English-speaking countries for his many quotations and coinage, as they have passed into everyday usage in English and different languages.
