All the ads and flyers that were put up at home didn’t show this part of the war. For example the flyers never added that part of having to sleep with rats and eat the worst the meals ever! The sanitation is worse than the streets in New York. there are bad germs and the food has to get cleaned with chloride. If you thought that one restaurant a block away from the Empire State Building was bad then you don’t know how bad the food is here.There is so much death and sickness here. You have to pay attention all the time of what you are doing or else you can get shot out of nowhere if the enemy can get a good line of sight on you. People die left and right next to you and you never know if your next. People are squashed together in the small spaces of the trenches. It’s where large lines are dug into the ground where soldiers can hide from bullets and bombs. Some trenches can get big enough to carve out an underground base and machine guns. There are sand walls and barbed wires to stop bullets and soldiers from getting through. You have to guess well if you want to shoot or else by the time you stand up you got shot. One time their was a soldier to my right and he wanted to pick off a soldier behind a bush. Well he successfully got the shot but got nailed in the arm. He was lucky it wasn’t his head or heart.You run from trench to trench, so it is a slow process to gain territory. You get tired and get cramps from crouching constantly and not moving well from all the soldiers you are put
