Perhaps you have to as you are marking or proofing it, but maybe you find this topic intriguing. Anyway, whatever decision caused you to read this essay was a cause, leaving the effect as reading this essay. Another example would be when a ball is flying through the air. Either that ball has been thrown or hit (causes). But what caused the cause? Many might say because someone just wanted to throw or hit the ball but when asked to go into more detail, you are explaining cause and effect, or determinism rather than free will. What I mean by that is someone did not just randomly decide to throw a ball. They might of been playing catch and needed to pass the ball back to a friend. All of those are causes for the effect of throwing the ball. Even how you move is determined by cause and effect. In a very simple manner, your brain sends impulses to your arm telling it move, which shows yet again, cause and effect.
