The first site that I stumbled upon was http://www.theyashelf.com/, a blog that reviews and creates lists of books for lovers of YAL to enjoy. This was a poll created by NPR in 2012 where they asked teens to select which books they thought were the "best" and opened up a place to vote. Although one could argue that whatever was popular at the time would win (The Harry Potter series is number one and The Hunger Games is number 2, for example), it does provide one with a somewhat recent look at what is emerging in the field at the time the poll was taken. The site seems to be aimed at anyone looking for a new book to read and is also highly accessible to one who is well read. Those who participated in the poll also might take a chance to read books they haven't heard of or seem interesting to them. Even though the poll is only 5 years old, it feels dated, however. Perhaps it was a great resource in 2012 or even 2013, but a lot has changed since then.
