Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)
Function: Stabilises the knee joint and prevents anterior displacement of the tibia and posterior displacement of the knee
PA: Anterior the intercondylar area of the tibia
DA: posterior part of the medial side of the lateral condyle of the femur
Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL)
Function: Stabilises the knee joint and prevents posterior displacement of the tibia and anterior displacement of the femur.
PA: Posterior intercondylar area of the tibia
DA: anterior part of the lateral surface of the medial condyle of the femur
Medial meniscus
Function: deepen the articulation, absorb shock and move to accommodate the rolling and rotation of the femoral condyles
PA: Anterior intercondylar area of tibia anterior to ACL
DA: Posterior intercondylar area of tibia anterior to PCL
Lateral meniscus
Function: deepen the articulation, absorb shock and migrate to accommodate the rolling and rotation of the femoral condyles
PA: Intercondylar fossa lateral to ACL
DA: Intercondylar fossa anterior to medial meniscus
