Atomic radius decreases
1. Nuclear charge increases (increase in proton no.)
2. Screening effect remains relatively constant (no. of electron shells filled remains relatively constant)
Overall increase in nuclear charge outweighs change in screening effect, hence attraction between v.e and nucleus increases.
