Ipratropium (atrovent)
Classification: Muscarinic anticholinerhic
Action: blocks Muscarinic receptors inhibiting parasympathetic stimulation
Indications: bronchospasm associated with obstructive lung disease ( asthma, COPD)
contraindications: hypersensitivity
Doses: 500mcg
Routes: inhaled
Effect: blurred vision, dry mouth, dilated pupils, cough, confusion
Hydroxocobalamin ( cyanokit)
Classification: Cyanide antidote
Action: chelates cyanide from cytochrome oxidase forming cyanocbalamin
Indications: Cyanide poisoning
Contraindications: none
Doses: 5-10g
Route: IV
Effects: chromaturia, red skin, rash, hypertension,nausea, headache
Glucagon
Classification: Hormone
Action: elevates blood glucose levels
Indications: hypoglycemia, beta-blocker overdose
Contraindications: hypersensitivity
Doses: 0.25-0.5 units (IV) 1.0 mg (IM)
