PROCEDURE Maximum power and Norton’s Theorem will be performed to solve the unknowns within the given circuit. How to use both Maximum Power and Norton’s Theorem properly, are to be explained in order to solve a circuit using these approaches. THEORY MAXIMUM POWER Maximum power states that a load receives max power from a network when it’s resistance is exactly equal to the Thevenin and Norton resistance of the network supplying the power (as shown below): If the load resistance is higher or lower than the Thevenin/Norton equivalent then there would be no maximum power continued on next page: AT 0.5 Ω: AT 1.1 Ω In Max Power a bell curve graph would be used to show the correlation between power (R_L) versus resistance (R_S) continued on next page: NORTON’S THEOREM As similar to Thevenin’s Theorem, Norton’s Theorem is an approach that takes a complex circuit and turns it into an equivalent circuit. But in Norton’s Theorem the equivalent circuit has a current source and a resistance in parallel with the load resistance (R_X). Continued on next page: HOW IS IT USED When using Norton’s Theorem the load resistance is removed and replaced with a short (wire) and points labeled A and B. The reason to label the points A and B is to show where the meter would measure the unknown voltage and current associated with the load resistance. Next the load resistor is placed into the Norton’s equivalent circuit. In addition to that, the equivalent circuit is…
enhance isolation and increase bandwidth impedance, fork shaped stub added in the ground plane of the antenna. Due to interference of WIMAX (3.3-3.7 GHZ) and WLAN (5.2-5.8 GHz) on UWB dual band notch function is perform. For achieving the dual band notch characteristics, trekking slot cut in the patch with feed and C- shaped strip are placed adjacently to the feed line of the antenna. Due to fork shaped stub in ground plane, reducing of mutual coupling between elements | | ≤ -20dB. Peak…
William Wade Unit 303 Task A 21/10/2016 1. A fault has occurred on the electric shower in one of the rooms. It was reported that • The shower was switched on. • A crackling sound was heard coming from the shower. • The lights in the room flickered and dimmed. • The shower went off. Describe the likely faults that could produce these symptoms. Lose terminal connections in the shower system could have caused the shower to crackle due to arching…
Electrosurgery is the passage of high frequency electrical current through the body to achieve a desired surgical effect. The surgical effect can be achieved by, cutting, coagulating or fulgurating. The techniques of electrosurgery use today were developed in the early part of the 20th century; however, the history of the technique goes back as far as the early 19th Century. The French Physicist Becquerel was the first to demonstrate electrocautery, using electricity to heat a wire needle. Later…
Harmonics: Harmonic distortions are injected at the generation as well as the consumer end. At the consumer end, harmonics are caused by nonlinear loads such as PCs, CFLs, electronic devices, etc. The harmonics distortion caused by non-linear load such as electric arc furnaces, large concentrations of arc discharge lamps, variable speed motors, saturation of magnetization of transformer and a distorted line current. The current generated by such loads will interact with power system impedance…
stay for long as he was accepted into the University of Pennsylvania 's School of Electrical Engineering. Mauchly 's sole intention remained to construct a weather predicting machine. Mauchly got a chance to build his machine from the US Army, who needed faster ways to calculate the tables required for accurate firing of heavy artillery. The Ballistic Research Laboratory of the Ordnance Department was responsible for generating tables which allowed for accurate firing of artillery, they took…
The moment I saw that tremendous project of Krughütte Solar Park in Germany was a crossroads in my scientific life. Not mentioning Alta Wind Energy Center, Full faith has been created in the depths of my heart that this is definitely going to be the most important technological revolution in the twenty-first century. The clean free renewable energy sources and their applications are increasingly embraced all over the world. It is just a matter of time when the world will wake up to news about…
Mohsin Yaqub ENGR 482-917 Dr. Glen Miller 10/03/2017 Virtue Ethics and Computer Engineering Virtue Ethics has been around for centuries and even today brings value to the lives of people. Virtue Ethics aims to achieve living “The good life”, this theory states that if one wants to do well then they must be good. As a Computer Engineer, I believe that doing well means doing something that would bring meaning into the world. Promoting goodness and living an altruistic life to create a…
