Data collection was done so by means of counting the number of specimens at the feeder. The counting of individuals is interpreted as a discrete quantitative data collection method (Raath, 2011: 2). The number of species were separately identified and counted respectively. For each arrival the time was recorded and the duration of feeding observed. Data analysis was done by processing the raw data to produce graphs for comparison. As a trend was noticed during observations, it was decided that the best way to portray the occurrence of the sparrows was to use an excel processor to determine a pie graph for the number of flock occurrences vs. single occurrences (more on this will be issued in the discussion). This specific graph was based on the numerical frequency of the birds seen flock feeding or not, and not the actual number of…
I chose to observe the black vultures or Coragyps atratus (The Cornell lab of Ornithology, 2015). There is a small flock of three black vultures that are common in my neighborhood. All three black vultures appear to be roughly 2 feet tall, and an estimated 5 pounds. I was lucky enough to observe one of the black vultures expand their wings, and this vulture’s wingspan was roughly 4 feet wide. I based my estimates on the surroundings of the vultures including a fence and vehicle. Black vultures…
Common Ostrich 1. Each member of the ostrich flock will be seen as an individual, this is because the ostrich flock is megafauna and thus will not contain too many members. I will use leg bands to ID the ostriches. Leg bands are easy to apply, easy to see, the public does not tend to mind them, and it will last a long term, but can be changed or removed if needed. 2. Daily, the enclosure will be cleaned by removing all fecal matter and old food. All bowls will be replaced with fresh bowls and…
directed by Terry Gilliam; and then, in 1999, he appeared in the sci-fi/horror film El engendro (1999). The same year he teamed up again with Burton in La leyenda del jinete sin cabeza (1999), brilliantly portraying Ichabod Crane. Depp has played many characters in his career, including another fact-based one, Insp. Fred Abberline in Desde el infierno (2001). He stole the show from screen greats such as Antonio Banderas in the finale to Robert Rodriguez's "mariachi" trilogy, Érase una vez en…
Johnny Depp is one of the best American actors. He has the great ability of playing different characters and he does it extremely well. He has been recognized worldwide for his movies and also for several scandals in his life. He has appeared in more than 30 movies and has earned many appreciation and great awards for his good work. He as well has mentioned many times that he doesn’t like the idea of being famous because when you are famous it feels like living your live like a fugitive, because…
the big move from New York to Texas. The house we lived in was my childhood home and my husband and I shared it for fifteen years together. This was not going to be an easy task. Our first hurdle was preparing for this huge adventure. Secondly, we needed to drive both cars down. That meant that we would not have the other person to take over driving when our eyelids became as heavy as weights over our eyes. Finally, we would need to settle into this strange new world. My husband’s family…
Growing up in my childhood, I never really made a lot of friends. In my early years of education, I was very sociable, but to my dismay, people just didn’t seem the friendly type. I never really did feel safe in the school district. That being said, there was only one place that I would always go to relax and get the stress of my mind, and that would be my humble abode, my home. Because I walked to school on a regular basis, I always knew where to go, even during the renovations. I mean, I could…
This selection was written to describe the conditions of tenement houses, overcrowded slums that filled New York City during the late 1900’s. The first sentence of this selection states, “The first tenement New York knew bore the mark of Cain from its birth, though a generation passed before the writing was deciphered.” The author means that tenement houses were “cursed,” or were terrible creations from the very beginning, but this was ignored and not tended to for a long time. The owners of…
we arrived to Dayton it was dark. Unfortunately for us, the house were we going was not in the city but the outskirts. Once we showed up at the house, we were both pretty creped out. A really run down house in the woods, on top of a hill, no trespassing signs everywhere, and only one porch light on. It was the kind of light that is plugged in, but hanging by its wires swinging back and forth in the wind. The sunroom on the house was collapsed, only two walls were able to hold the ceiling up. One…
economic supply and demand as well as the seasonal weather. Other jobs that were more skilled, such as bakers and carpenters earned around nine dollars per week. Working in domestic work, as a waiter or bartender, earned them not much more than an unskilled laborer (five dollars per week). Working such low paying jobs made it difficult for immigrants to pay the cost of living and feed their families. This forced immigrants of all ethnic backgrounds to live in tenement houses. These houses…
