It reminded me that even when we are young and growing, our internal clock is still ticking down from the very second your born. Although this may seem like a sad and depressed way to think about it is really not. Mortality is something that no one enjoys thinking about, and it is proven in different social cognition studies that contemplating our own mortality can threaten our Self-Esteem. But, apart of life is death and this should only make you strive for a good life. Aside from that, the reason I chose this study in particular is because it has personal relevance to everyone, being that everybody has some sort of personality. Whether or not the experiment was able to captivate all personalities, lifestyles, and hazards throughout life, etc., of everybody on earth, the idea of linking personality to longevity can be clear to everyone. But to that, there are several issues I have about this study that aren’t allowing me buy into their conclusion totally. Within the data and available participants their test results are proven to be true, but it was said that all the participants were from the same demographic, race (white), class (middle class), and were tested to be all around the same area in intelligence (bright). This is fine, but it definitely doesn’t portray a whole lot of people other then white, middle class citizens. Say person (a) is born into lower class, had divorced parents,…
I chose to talk about topic six, breakthroughs in medicine. I chose this topic because not only does this affect me, it also greatly affects everyone else in the world. We can do amazing things now with our new medicine and technology. We can do almost impossible things, but there is a fine line between what is right and what is wrong. Some people might not think that there is anything wrong with what we are doing in the medical field. I believe that most of what we are doing is good and…
symptoms at the same age after controlling for prior emotional distress in adolescence” (Hallam et al, 2013, para. 1). This study involves the premise that the good life…
Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment is about a ‘Flock’ of six kids running for their lives. The group is continually fighting their way through life. They have no idea who their parents are, what state or city they are from, or why they were even experimented on. The group of kids is hidden in a remote mountain home. Maximum Ride is the main character in this story she is fourteen years old and the oldest out of the flock. She is the ’mother’ of the group because she is looked up to. All the…
The intercept is significant at a 1%. This can be understood as whenever p and q are equal to zero, the intercept can be read as the sample mean; however in this case where p and q are bigger than zero it will still be close to the sample mean but usually not identical as it is not the maximum likelihood estimate whenever p and q are bigger than zero. The AR(1) coefficient is significant at 10% with estimate of 0.31523, interpreted as a correlation of the current period GDP with the previous…
In comparison with the previous likelihood models, unified likelihood model shows more effective results citep{Lafferty:2001} and also is represented as the current state-of-the-art method in language modelling for IR citep{zhai2008ftir}. subsubsection{Term-based Language Model Estimation} The main component in language model approaches is how to estimate the probability of generating query terms from a specific language model (i.e, $P(t/LM_{text})$) as a language model process. The simplest…
Sean’s issue is being distracted as a talented baseball outfielder. I can’t just jump to conclusions so I would have to first build a solid understanding of his issue first before recommending an action plan to combat it. I would have to sit down with Sean in a comfortable and non-threatening environment and have a heart-to-heart meeting to see what’s going on in his life. I would use empathic and active/attentive listening skills to understand his issues in life to include his academics and…

hands to answer questions while others did not. Those raising their hand showed they had some background knowledge on Tecumseh. The same students raised their hand time and time again. There were students who were sitting quietly watching the Brain Pop Video while a few other students seem to not be paying attention. One boy was looking around to see what his friends was doing. From the video I noticed that many of the students’ attention spans were lost half way through. You could hear papers…
right now is becoming heavily dependent on technology, and it's most likely impossible to wean ourselves from it completely. However, we can train ourselves to use technology in moderation. Most of the negative effects technology causes is because it is used too much these days, but the more technology advances, the more humans overuse it. In the next five years, we can expect these effects to become more defined in society. Text claw might become an official health condition, or the next…
