Root-
gives essential meaning to the term.
Suffix-
is the word ending.
Prefix-
is the small part added to the beginning of the term.
Combining Vowel-
connects roots to suffixes and roots to roots.
Combining Form-
is the combination of the root and a combining vowel.
Reading order-
medical words are read from suffix to the beginning of the word and then across.
Drop the combining vowel-
before a suffix that starts with a vowel.
Keep the combining vowel-
between word roots even if the 2nd root begins with a vowel.
