      Coronal or Frontal
    • The longitudinal plane dividing the body into equial or unequial front and back parts. Anterior and posterior refer to this plane.

    • The midline, longitudinal plane dividing the body/ head and torso into equal right and left halfs. The presence of the vertebral column and spinal cord is characteristic of the median planeof the torso. Teh median plane is the middle sagittal plane

    • The transverse plane dividing the body or body parts into upper and lower segments. This plane is a cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal planes.

    • Refers to a body part or structure being closer to the head or higher than another body part or structure.
