Adam & Eve
God made Adam out of dirt after he created the Earth; Eve was made out of Adam's rib; Told them not to eat from the tree in Garden; Devil convinced them to eat; God got mad & told them to leave the Garden. Original Sin
Cain & Abel
Adam & Eve's children; Cain got mad because he felt Abel was loved more so he killed Abel; God got mad & had Cain kill himself
Noah
Because all the people in Noah's city were bad except for Noah, God told Noah to build an ark to hold 2 of each kind of animal; Noah followed God's orders & then God sent a flood. 40 days & nights of rain; white dove brought olive branch as sign of land. Rained stopped & water receded; God amde a covenant to never send a flood again to cleanse humanity
Abraham & Isaac
Patriarchs
Abraham was old man whofollowed God's command & led his people to Canaan; He only asked God for a child; Isaac was born; God asked Abraham to kill his only son; They both went up the mountain & Abraham was about ready to sacrifice Isaac; But God said, "Stop don't do it" God loved his people & wanted them to turn to Him.
Jacob (patriarch) & Esau
Isaac's twin sons; Jacob was chosen by God to inherit but he had to get laws changed; Jacob agered a lot of people especially Esau who wanted to kill him; Jacob fled to Haran where he had a dream that God told him he would inherit Canaan; Jacob had a good life after that; God chenged Jacob's name to Israel & called his people Israelites
Joseph (patriarchs)
Jacob's favorite son; Joseph wore a long robe & had strange dreams; brothers took Joseph away & sold him to merchants who sold him to work for Pharoah; Joseph interpreted Pharoah's dreams & prepared Egypt for famine;during famine, Joseph's brothers went to Egypt for food; Joseph moved his family to Egypt fulfilling God's purpose that his people would find a temporary home in Egypt
Moses
Found by the Pharoah's daughter in the river as a baby; Moses cared deeply for the Hebrews & was angry about how they were being treated; he led them out of Egypt into the deseert; after 40 days & nights they found Mt. Sinai; Moses climbs it & gets the 10 Commandments
What truths are found in the Creation stories?
That God created everything like the Earth & Man; everything that God created is good.
How did God respond when Adam and Eve sinned?
God was mad & sent them out of the Garden; He didn't abandon them though & said that he would send a descendant to rescue humanity & restore order
How did the Israelites end up slaves in Egypt?
Abraham moved to Canaan,Jacob's son was taken to Egypt to work & his family followed looking for a better life.
How were the Israelites rescued from slavery in Egypt?
Moses led them out of Egypt & into the desert to the Promised Land
What was the Israelites' experience in the desert?
Difficult journey & they often lost faith; God showed them miracles to keep their faith; got the 10 commandments, learned to worship God who would see them through all their troubles
