A condensation reaction is the process by which two monomers join together to form a polymer through the loss of a molecule of H20. Each of the molecules will contain a component of the water molecule- the first will provide the H, and the second a hydroxyl group (-OH). The water is lost and they are bonded together.

6.) What is a Hydrolysis? Describe the process.

Hydrolysis is the opposite of a dehydration reaction- it is the breaking down of a polymer into smaller components, monomers through the addition of an H20 molecule. One molecule will receive Hydrogen, the other a hydroxyl group.
