Protagonist	- main character of a work of fiction; the protagonist does not have to be “good”
Antagonist	the character against whom the protagonist struggles
Static Character	character that remains the same during the course of the story
Dynamic Character	character who changes during the course of and as a result of the story
Round Character	a fully developed character that exhibits many traits, often both faults and virtues
Flat Character	a one-sided and often stereotypical character
Characterization	the way that an author presents a character and reveals character traits
Direct characterization	important information that is explicitly stated by the author about a character
Indirect characterization	- information about a character that must be inferred from the character’s actions, words, thoughts, and feelings, and from what others say to or about the character
