what are the most common pituitary tumors?
non functioning tumors (mass effect --> visual disturbance and anterior pituitary problems)

24 hr urine free cortisol
dexamethasone suppression test (cushing pt require a lot of dexamethasone to suppress cortisol levels)

what tests for acromegaly
IGF-1 level tests, oral glucose intolerance tests (glucose normally suppresses GH levels)

IGF-1 levels and test their response to the following (arginine, GHRH, insulin - you give them hypoglycemia... they wont be happy but its a test)
a 16 year old boy comes in because he doesn't think he looks like the other guys at school. He is short for his age. Labs show low levels of testosterone and normal LH levels. What is the cause of his problem
LH should be high but its not. This is secondary hypogonadism because the gonad are intact but their stimulation is off.
what is kallmann sydrome?
deficiency in LH causing secondary hypogonadism
what is klinfelters syndrome?
primary hypogonadism because the gonads did not develop correctly since it has XXY chromosomes
