From hepatic arteries--can be used for imaging to see if it stays after portal circulation

Where is AST also found?
RED BLOOD CELLS, heart, skeletal muscles, brain, lungs, kidneys
What is ALT?

When do you see elevated alkaline phosphatase?
Liver damage, osteoblasts(metastatic bone cancers and fractures), intestinal enterocytes, placental syncytiotrophoblasts, renal epithelial cells, leukocytes
Normal serum values are HIGHER for pediatric patients |
Alkaline phosphatase in normal to mildly elevated?
PBC or it's coming from bone, intestine, or placenta
Alkaline phosphatase > 1000 and bilirubin < 3 = ?
Infiltrative liver cancer
Alkaline phosphatase and amylase are elevated with Tbili > 3 = ?
Chronic pancreatitis or CA of pancreas
DECREASED ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE = ?
Wilson's disease
Excess copper in blood--copper replaces zinc to make Alk Phos and what is made is bad |

What does PT measure?
The extrinsic pathway of coagulation

Acute hepatitis or cholangitis
INR < 1.5 = ?
Minimal liver injury
INR 1.5 -- 3 = ?
Acute or chronic liver disease
INR > 3 = ?
Severe acute liver injury
