What are Haemorrhoids?
|
Anal cushions (spongy vascular tissue) lining the anus become displaced due to gravity, straining and altered anal tone.
They are vulnerable to trauma and bleed easily as are composed of capillaries. |

Classifying (4)
|
1st degree: remain in rectum
2nd degree: prolapse through rectum on defecation but spontaneously resolve. 3rd degree: need digital reduction 4th degree: cannot be reduced Can also classify haemorrhoids based on whether they are internal, external or mixed. |

Classify haemorrhoids into int, ext + mixed.

All depends on their origin in relation to the dentate line - originate above it = internal, below it = external, above and below = mixed.
Dentate line is the point of transition between anus and skin. Also called anocutaneous line. |
