it was in 1858 and it was a revolution accross europe to limit royal power.

Bismarck was a Conservative. This meant that he was for the power of royal and against the pan european revolution.

He convinced Austria to join them to defend the two duchies and they said they were acting on behalf of the German Confederation.
What was the result of the war?
Prussia took over Schleswig and Austria took over Holstein. Also created tension for Austria cause they wanted both areas. Intended by Bismarck.

In 1870, William met with the Ambassador of France over the hohenzollern candidate. William didnt like this because he saw the issue as over. He didnt meet him the next day and sent a telegram to Bismarck. Bismarck manipulated this telegram so it seemed like the meeting was tempered.He then posted it in the newspaper.
What did the ems telegram cause?
It caused both, just as Bismarck had hoped, demand for war. Both sides wanted war and on the 19th of July 1870 France declared war on Prussia.
