Age
A period of time named for a common feature at that time.
Anachronism
A practise, event, object or person that is no supposed to be in a period of time that some one has put it in.
Archaeologist
Some one that investigates the past by digging up objects left by previous generations.
Artefact
An object made or altered by people in the past.
Conservation
Preserving of something in its existing state. For the benefit of future generations.
Dendrochronology
A method of telling the age of wood.
Evidence
Information found within a source that proves or disproves something.
Generation
People born in about the same ten year time span.
Perspective
Some ones point of view or outlook on life.
Prejudice
An opinion not based on fairness or knowledge, That someone has formed to a person or group often because of culture, religion, or race
Radiocarbon dating
A method of estimating the age of an object by measuring the amount of carbon 14 left in wood, bone, carbon or fossils.
Sources
Written or non written items that tell some thing about the past.
Thermoluminescence dating
Another method of fining the age in an object, working on the basis that mineral crystals contained in clay and stone are released as light when heated. By reheating the object and measuring the amount of light it releases, it is possible to see how long ago the object was last heated.
World Heritage Site
Site of natural or cultural importance, listed by the World Heritage Commission.
Heritage
All things that we value from the past, including traditions, Influences, places and experiences.
Hypothesis
A theory that tries to answere Questions about the past and which can be tested against the evidence given by a historians sources.
Memoir
A persons written records of his or her life. Essentially an autobiography
