Lesions begin as dark red, purplish lesions that change into plaques and begin on the lower extremities advancing upward to the trunk and face which eventually open and drain. May spread to the lymph nodes, lungs and GI tract. A skin punch biopsy is used to determine the dx.

Medication for AIDS which should be taken on an empty stomach with water to increase it's absorption.
