What is the MOA for Abciximab?
Prevents the aggregation of platelets by inhibiting the integrin GP iib/iia receptor.
What are the indications for Abciximab?
UA/NSTEMI patients undergoing planned or emergent PCI
What are the adverse reactions for Abciximab?
Bleeding from theGI tract, internal bleeding, intracranial hemorrhage, hypotension, stroke, anaphylactic shock
What are the contraindications for Abciximab?
Bleeding from any source, uncontrolled hypertension, surgery or trauma within the previous 6 weeks, stroke within the past 30 days, renal failure, thrombocytopenia, intracranial mass
What is the dosage for Abciximab?
Planned PCI within 24 hours:
.25 mg/kg IV, IO (10-60 minutes before procedure) then .125 mcg/kg/min IV, IO infusion for 12-24 hours
PCI only:
.25 mg/kg IV, IO then 10 mcg/min IV, IO infusion
What is the MOA for Activated Charcoal?
When certain chemicalsand toxins are ingested they attach to the surface of the charcoal and become trapped
What are the indications for Activated Charcoal?
Toxic ingestion
What are the adverse reactions for Activated Charcoal?
Nausea/vomiting, constipation/vomiting, if aspirated can turn into pneumonia
What are the contraindications for Activated Charcoal?
Ingestion of acids, alkalis, ethanol, methanol, cyanide, ferrous sulfate or other iron salts, lithium, coma, GI obstruction
What is the dosage for Activated Charcoal?
Adult: 50-100 g/dose
Peds: 1-2 g/kg
What is the MOA for Adenosine?
Slows the electrical impulses at the AV node
What are the indications for Adenosine?
Stable reentry SVT, does not convert AF, atrial flutter, or VT
What are the adverse reactions for Adenosine?
Sense of impending doom, complaints of flushing, chest pressure, throat tightness, numbness, may be a brief episode of systole
What are the contraindications for Adenosine?
Sick sinus syndrome
Second- or third-degree heart block
Poison- or drug-induced tachycardia
Whqt is the dosage for adenosine?
Adult: 6mg rapid IV/IO immediately followed by a 20mL rapid saline flush. If first dose does not eliminate rhythm in 1-2 minutes, 12mg rapid IV/IO repeat 2nd time if needed
Peds: for children >50kg same as adult dosing
For children <50kg .1mg/kg IV/IO immediately followed by no more than 5mL rapid saline flush, may repeat at .2mg/kg (max dose 12mg)
What is the MOA for Albumin?
Increases oncotic pressure in intravascular space.
What are the indications for albumin?
Expand intravascular volume
What are the adverse reactions for Albumin?
Allergic reaction for some, excessive amount of fluid can result in CHF and pulmonary edema in susceptible patients
What are the contraindications for Albumin?
Severe anemia or cardiac failure in the presence of normal or increased intravascular volume, solution appears turbid or if 4 hours has elapsed since the container was opened , known sensitivity
What isthe dosage for Albumin?
Adults:
5% albumin: 500 to 1000 mL IV, IO
25% albumin: 50 to 200 mL IV, IO

Peds:
5% albumin: 12 to 20 mL IV, IO; initial dose may be repeated in 15 to 30 mins if the clinical response is inadequate
25% albumin: 2.5 to 5 mL IV, IO
One may administer based on grams of albumin at .5 to 1 g/kg/dose IV, IO; may repeat as needed (max dose 6g/kg/day)
