What is D-penicillamine used for? What are the severe ADRs?

Used to chelate heavy metals, and used to treat heavy metal poisoning. Severe ADRs are dermatitis to nephritis to aplastic anemia.

Results in an accumulation of Hypoxanthine and Guanine. This excess is metabolized by xanthine oxidase to uric acid. This can be prevented with Allopurinol.
