Stress

Primary appraisal of stress
A person determines the value of stress as a challenge or a threat.
Secondary appraisal of Stress
person determines whether there are resources for help
Sympathetic Nervous System
Part of the autonomic peripheral nervous system. it is responsible for the stress response fight or flight and releases cortisol from the outside of the adrenal glands.
Parasympathetic Nervous System
Also part of the peripheral autonomic system it is response for the relaxation response releases nor-epinephrine from inside the adrenal madula.
Bipolar disorder 1
Symptoms from both Major depressive disorder and Mania which include:
for two weeks straight:
low depressed mood
over/under eating
over/under sleeping
social withdrawl
inability to experience pleasure
Psychosomatic body aches

for at least one week full mania:
no sleeping
excessive energy
supermultitasking
wreckless impulsive behavior
psychotic break with reality


for at least one week:
Bipolar 2
symptoms of bipolar without full mania lasting a min of four days
Disthymic disorder
less intense longer lasting cycles of bipolar mania/depression without three syptoms:
No suicidal thoughts
No socail withdrawl
No lack of pleasure
Cyclothymic
going between disthymic disorder and hypermania

exaggerated unrealistic fears that are dysfunctional of specific fears.
Social Phobia
exaggerated unrealistic fears of social situations where you might be graded and can't leave
Obsessive compulsive disorder
unwanted intrusive thoughts that cause anxiety followed by compulsive behavior to undo the thoughts and relieve anxiety.
