When contrast is given by mouth (orally) or by rectum (enema) only, it does NOT qualify as a study
with contrast
PROCEDURE: Abdominal MRI enhanced by the administration of rectal contrast.
1.Contrast was administered through the rectum.
2.This procedure does not apply to study “with contrast
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Abdomen 74181-74183
PROCEDURE: Abdominal MRI enhanced by the administration of rectal contrast. 74181 (without contrast material)
PROCEDURE: CT scan of brain performed in conjunction with the administration of intravascular contrast
CT scan
With contrast
Brain 70460
PROCEDURE: CT scan of brain performed in conjunction with the administration of intravascular contrast. 70460
PROCEDURE: Lumbosacral CT is performed with intrathecal injection of contrast.

CT Scan 62284
PROCEDURE: Lumbosacral CT is performed with intrathecal injection of contrast. 72132, 62284
A blank is a type of diagnostic medical imaging examination in which x-rays are taken of the interior of the spinal canal. This procedure is used to examine the spine for abnormalities that may indicate the presence of disease. The overall purpose of blank is to diagnose disease and contribute to an assessment of the type of spinal treatment a patient requires.
myelography
3.When contrast is injected intrathecally for spine examinations, the study qualifies as “with contrast”
but a supporting injection procedure code (61055 or 62284) must also be assigned.
When a joint is injected (intra-articular) without an arthrographic study (radiological or CT/MRI) performed, a joint injection code is assigned
20600-20610
radiological or CT/MRI are called blank study
arthrographic
The patient returns today to the office for a repeat 16 mg Synvisc injection of his left knee. He tolerated the last injection very well and had some significant immediate relief of his pain. He was very happy with his progress after the injection. His left knee was prepped with Betadine and injected intra-articularly with sterile technique. There were no complications.

Joint 20600–20610
LT
Left side (used to identify procedures performed on the left side of the body)
PROCEDURE: 16 mg Synvisc injection, left knee. 20610-LT
An blank is a medical procedure in which images of a joint are produced after it is injected with a contrast medium, a substance that improves visibility of the structures to be examined. The images in an blank can be produced through x-rays, computerized tomography (CT) scans or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. An blank is either diagnostic, with the purpose of determining the source of any illness or defects in the joint, or therapeutic, as a form of treatment for a known condition.
arthrogram
If a joint is injected (intra-articular) and a radiological arthrographic study is performed,
two codes are assigned: joint injection code + an arthrographic radiologic supervision and interpretation code.
PROCEDURE: Right intra-articular elbow injection and arthrogram intermediate joint.

Arthrography, Elbow, Injection, 24220 (Radiologic examination, elbow, athrography, radiological supervision and interpretation)

PROCEDURE: Right intra-articular elbow injection and arthrogram intermediate joint. 24220-RT, 73085-RT
