Slope
Slope is the steepness of a line of an equation. It an be found by using the equation m=y2-y1/x2-x1
(EX) find the slope of (2,2) (5,3)

3-2=1
5-2=-3 So m=-1/3
Slope intercept form
A linear equation
y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept
(EX) slope=4 and y int=12

y=4x+12
Horizontal line
Runs left to right and only across the y axis it NEVER touches the x axis the slope is always 0
(EX) 0/5= horizontal line
Point-Slope form
(y - y1) = m(x - x1). You need to know or find the slope and at least 1 point on the line (x1,y1)
slope=7, x1=3 and y1=5
(y-5)=7(x-3)
y-5=7x-21 change to y=7x-21+5 and that equals y=7x-16
x-intercept
Where the line crosses the x axis on a graph
(EX) (2,0) y is always zero
y-intercept
Where the line crosses the y axis on a graph
(EX) (0,12) x is always zero
Slope formula
the slope formula is y2-y1/x2-x1. Once you get your answer, simplify and leave it as a fraction
(EX) find the slope with (6,3) (9,12)

12-3=9
9-6=3... so its 9/3 simplified 3/1
Vertical line
In a Fraction, if 0 is the denominator then its a vertical line. runs up and down and NEVER touches the x axis. Slope is always undefined
(EX) 18/0 slope is undefined. Vertical Line
Standard form
Ax + By = C. a linear equation where A and B are real numbers. There cannot be fractions or decimals in this equation
(EX) Given y=14x+6 the standard form of this is 14x-y=6
