What properties of bone allow it to perform its main physiological functions?

Bones are rigid. Bone is a composite tissue that is denser and harder than any other connective tissue. Bones move past one another at joints (articulations). Bones contain Ca2+ (calcium) and PO4(3-) (phosphate), fat stored in yellow marrow, and internal cavities called red marrow.

What is the internal structure of flat bones?

A flat bone consists of cancellous bone surrounded by compact bone. Flat bones have sinuses lined by mucous membranes, that make them lighter.
