Bunker Hill
British held Boston and Americans tried to push them out, but on the 3rd attempt, Americans ran out of ammo.

British victory.
Boston
Washington takes over Ticonderoga, after having troops get the weapons.

American victory.
New York battles
Washington split his men up, which was a bad move. However, British allowed Americans to get away.

Trenton
Washington was in Penn, and crossed the Delaware to fight German mercenaries (Hessians)

Significance: The win made American troops reenlist.
Saratoga
Howe (British) leaves to Philly because of a miscommunication with other British troops.
Burgoyne surrenders and Americans win.

Signifigance: Turning point of the war & French decide to help the colonies.
Monmouth
It lead to a stalemate in the North. This is where Molly Pitcher helped the troops.

Ended in a draw.
Charleston
It was a siege and lasted a while. Cornwallis then moved his troops to Yorktown to get more supplies.

British victory.
Yorktown
Americans joined forces with France. French navy cut off the British navy. Cornwallis surrenders.

Marks the end of the war.
Sugar Act
lowered the duty on imported sugars and molasses
Stamp Act
raised money to pay back the British. it was the 1st direct tax. had to get a stamp to prove you paid the tax on paper goods.
Tea Act
put a monopoly on tea sales. could only get tea from E. India company. there was no middle man.
Townshend Acts
internal tax. it lowered britain's debt/tax and provided housing for soldiers.
Intolerable Acts
response to the tea party. it closed the boston port, put the quartering act into place, and various other acts.
