H/P findings associated with Bacterial Vaginosis
|
-fishy odor
-itching, but not as severe as candida or trichomonas -1/2 of women are asymptomatic -creamy, white, yellow, green, or gray d/c -no sings of inflammation on exam |

Treatment of Acute BV
|
-Metronidazole 500 mg PO BID x7d
-Clindamycin 2% cream qHS x7d -Metronidazole 0.75% vaginal gell daily or BID for 5d |

Treatment of recurrent/resistant BV
|
-extend course to 14 days
-Tinidazole 500 mg (4tabs) PO single dose -Intravaginal Metronidazole and Nystatin |

-florid, thick, curd-like white d/c clinging to mucosa
-vaginal itch -mucosal tears may be present |
