The term safeguarding as used to be called child protection is part of the wider work to help to safeguarding and promoting the safety of all children & young people. It relates to the activities that is undertaken to help protect certain children who may be suffering from some sort of abuse or neglect. Children and young people will be able to achieve and reach their full potential if we can keep them safe. Safeguarding will also involve protecting children and young people from any sort of maltreatment and preventing damage or injury to a child’s health & development. The National Legislation and guidance has the influence on the development of the local policies and procedures that has to be implemented and how it affects the everyday work with children and young people.
