In both of the stories, the father of Katherine and Bianca says that Bianca isn’t allowed to date or marry a boy until Katherine does. The problem is that Kat is rude, antisocial, and has no interest in dating or marrying a boy. So the suitors of Bianca try and find someone who is willing to date or marry Katherine. In The Taming Of The Shrew they find Petruchio who is willing to “tame” Kat because he is looking for a challenge a conquer. In 10 Things I Hate About You the suitors find Patrick who they have to pay to “tame” Kat and end up dating her.
